Alisha, my office manager, and myself think this should be our slogan…I need to get t-shirts printed with SGB on the front. Alisha always seems to have a jug of “green smoothie” with her and it has rubbed off on me…we VitaMix a variety of greens with fruit, maybe some ice, maybe some salba seed and …hello sexy green bitches! Our green mustache rivals anything milk could do and it is stylish too… (see my favorite smoothie recipe below)
I love the way the country is turning more GREEN. From sustainable agriculture, to wind power, to recycling , and even to green smoothies. I have heard it a number of times since this time last year that “I want to try something different for my healthcare”…even the GREEN health movement is here! I am getting lots of new patients who want to prevent illness, do anti-aging medicine, love alternative medicine but want a REAL doctors advice. I do pap smears, annual blood work, allergy testing, bio-identical hormone testing/balancing, physicals etc…but my philosophy is to treat naturally.
I am even getting referrals from mainstream MDs that have deemed me competent I guess. This is great news for medicine…truly integrative health care. Although I am a bit fearful of the healthcare reform issues…all we can do is wait and see what the tigers figure out. In the meantime, enjoy life, health and happiness…and heck, even a green smoothie.

Smoothie recipe #1: Add ingredients in this order and blend 1-2 minutes until smooth…I add ice cubes to chill.
2 cups water 3-4 leaves of kale (2 cups chopped) 1 peach 1 green apple 2 tbsp of salba seed (chia seed)
1 scoop of GREENS first powder (sold in my store)
Green is the new sexy black… I love that going green is so mainstream now. With so many companies offering organic lines of food, clothing and makeup it has made going green more affordable for me. I wish money wasn’t an issue but it is in my life..for now. When I first started making green smoothies, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to afford to keep up with my new addiction..But, I have found that as I have added green smoothies to my daily diet, I am spending less on the processed quick foods that fill me up for the moment. Also, I have taken advantage of our awesome local farmer’s market where I buy beautiful organic kale, chard and beet greens for alot less than the stores. So for the summer I am blissfully supporting local farmers and enjoying the fruits of their labors. Here is my favorite green smoothie recipe for you to try…hope you like!! PS. Add the ingrediants in the order I listed, seems to blend up the easiest with no jams.
3-4 leaves of kale (usually fills around half the vitamixer)
2 medium peaches or nectarines – take the pits out and cut in quarters
1-2 Tbsp. of agave nectar..or adjust to your liking..
1 + 1/2 cups water. I like 1 cup of water for a thicker smoothie, try 1 1/2 cups if you like it thinner.
Quickly increase speed from variable to high and blend for 1 minute. Pour over ice and enjoy. This will make enough for you to have 2 large glasses of yummy greens..
HOPE YOU ENJOY… ALISHA proud sexy green bitch =)
